Don’t choose disable or uninstall unless you know exactly what you’re doing: Removing needed device drivers could crash your system or make it unbootable, which would be bad news! “Scan for hardware changes” can be beneficial if you think the system isn’t seeing your specific hardware too.

But what we want is highlighted: “Update driver“. Choose that and the system will ask where it should look for the newer driver:

I always use “Search automatically” but if you’ve downloaded a newer device driver from the manufacturer of the peripheral in question (and beware: third party drivers can also be a carrier of malware or spyware!) you can use “Browse my computer” to identify the driver you’d prefer to use.

A click on “Search automatically for updated driver software” and the system will poke around…

After 20-30 seconds or so, it’ll let you know if there’s a newer driver or you’re good to go:

And that’s how it’s done in the world of Windows 10. Pretty darn easy, really.
